How To Have The Best Date Night In

It goes without saying that none of us expected 2020 to start off the way it has. Instead of spending our days outside and surrounded by friends, we must now kick off the new decade with a shelter in place order because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The best way to help each other stay safe is to stay at home and follow the recommendations of the CDC. Once this terrible time in history is past us, we can move on and celebrate in the great outdoors once again.

For those in quarantine with their significant other during this difficult time, it doesn’t have to mean that date night is canceled. Here are four tips to keep the spark alive and have the best date night at home!

  1. Location, Location, Location

Remember the days when you couldn’t decide which restaurant you wanted to go to for the evening. Oh, how we wish that was our current problem!

In order to set your date night up for success, try setting the mood by switching up your location within your home. If you normally eat dinner at your dining table, use your date night in as an excuse to have dinner somewhere else in your home. If you have a backyard, patio, or balcony and the weather is okay, then take your meal outdoors. If you are limited to an apartment with no outdoor space, then try setting up a romantic picnic-style dinner in your home. A new setting will make your date night feel a little extra special that your normal evening routine.

  1. Reverse the Roles

In addition to switching up your dining location, try reversing roles with your partner. If one of you is the head chef of the household, then switch it up for date night. Let the sous chef become head chef for one evening. Meanwhile, the partner not cooking can be in charge of decorating the new dinner location for your special date night. Cue the candles and a fresh Spotify playlist!

  1. Date Night Cocktail

The easiest way to spice up date night is to concoct a spicy cocktail of course! Well, whether you prefer spicy or sweet, changing up your date night beverage is sure to give the evening that special touch. Check out Pinterest or your favorite food & beverage blogger for some inspiration to craft your unique date night cocktail. If you’re engaged, then test out a few recipes for your signature cocktail at your wedding. This is the perfect time to do it.

  1. Dress Up

Last by not least, get out of those cozy sweat pants you have been living in and dress up to put the finishing touch on your special date night in. Put on your favorite outfit and jewelry, or go down memory lane back to where it all began. Can you remember what you wore on your first date with your fiancé? If you can, then put on the same or a similar ensemble to recreate your first date.

And there you have it, a super sweet way to enjoy quarantine with your partner and remember there will always be good days ahead!
